“Conservatives Urge Fairer Social Media Policies”
But will anything come of it? Probably not until regulation is enacted. You cannot trust a far-leftist to treat Conservative thought with fairness anymore than you can trust a Nazi to treat Jewish people fairly. The level of hate is beyond anything we have seen, at least in my lifetime. There are very few reasonable and peaceful arguments today between Conservatives and Leftist Democrats.
The question is, what has caused such a massive divide between the parties? It seems that social media is one of the main factors that have caused this. Sure, we had disagreement prior to social media, but not to the level that it is today. Before social media, everyone had to listen to both sides of arguments, co-exist with people from opposite parties. People actually were people, live beings, living a life, interacting throughout the day. But now, with the onset of social media, people no longer have to really co-mingle with others that have differing ideas. They can listen all day to one side of an argument and never really be exposed to the other side which then reinforces their belief that their side and only their side is the correct one. They can cheer each other on in their beliefs with virtually no arguments. They can just block anyone who disagrees like a child sticking their fingers in their ears and chanting, “Nyah nyha nyah nyah” so they do not have to hear anything opposing their thought. And, on the occasion that they do hear opposition thought, it’s coming from a screen and really has few, if any, human characteristics to it, thus it’s easy to just viciously attack that other person and attempt to make them feel terrible and ashamed for their thought. It’s bullying, really, and nothing but bullying.
Therefore, the only realistic way to fix this problem is to regulate social media and ensure fair treatment of people with all thoughts. The leftist companies running social media will not be able to do this themselves. They’ve grown far too large and far too powerful. Listening to and evaluating both sides of arguments is not a bad thing. What is bad, and actually dangerous, is to not allow diversity of ideas and thought. That leads to fascism. No sane person wants to live under fascist rule but social media seems to be promoting a type of facism and that is beginning to snowball into daily life . . .
